Product Review not a Guide, September 6, 2012 By Buell rider (NH) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?) This review is from: Windows 8 - The Complete Guide (Kindle Edition) I was very disappointed in the publication because it was described as "The Complete Guide". In just 2 weeks of using W-8 I had already discovered much more than what was covered in the guide. I would rank the publication as a good product description at best. Sorry for the less than enthusiastic review but, I don't think it is fair to call it "complete".

Windows 8 - not for the desktop, September 5, 2012 By Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?) This review is from: Windows 8 - The Complete Guide (Kindle Edition) If you are considering Windows 8 on a tablet, this book may be useful. However, for a desktop user, the book is a major disappointment. It's virtually useless in helping a desktop user make the transition from earlier versions of Windows to Windows 8.

Windows 8. What it's really like., July 17, 2012 By LeSpot "LeSpot" (Columbus, OH, USA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?) This review is from: Windows 8 - The Complete Guide (Kindle Edition) This book is really an overview of the new Windows 8 OS. It clues you in on what is different and what isn't from Windows 7. Many functions you were used to having to load a third party program for are built into Windows 8. Some of the functions that have always been there, but you had to have a degree from MIT to find, are now much more easily called up and intuitive to operate. Some of the favorite functions that you used to access from the Start Menu now must be reached from the "Pane." To me it should probably be spelled "Pain." However, I'm not a smart phone user and I'm not used to touch screen operation. The start menu button is no longer there so it appears to me that this OS was designed to be a mouse trap. If you're itching to try out the free released version of Windows 8. This book will keep you from thrashing about in the dark....and it may well prove to be a go-to primer text for the final release of Windows 8.
