not just for dummies, November 17, 2012 By bookman (saratoga ny) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?) This review is from: Windows 8 All-in-One For Dummies (Paperback) This book is a great reference. More than "just for dummies", but very useful if you are one.
There are a lot of helpful hints for readers of any knowledge level and they are written so mere mortals (vs geeks) can understand and use them.

Smart book for dummies, November 19, 2012 By Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?) This review is from: Windows 8 All-in-One For Dummies (Kindle Edition) This is a very good book for those who are looking to learn Windows 8 Pro. The book takes you from the very beginning with an excellent overview of the radical new operating system from Microsoft. It has a number of very funny illustrations and presents the material in an understandable step-by-step process. If you have an Amazon Kindle that is able to handle text-to-speech and you don't mind the mechanical voice. I recommend that you listen to the book with a pair of headphones and walked through the learning process with the author. By the time you finish the book you will have a well-founded and established foundation for understanding Windows 8 Pro. This may take several days to do so depending on how much time you have but it's worth it. You'll notice immediately that the author is not 100% sold on Windows 8 for everyone. But he does endorse giving it a try. I find that ironic considering that this is a 1000 page book. But I think you will enjoy him giving his assessment of both... Read more

Not well in Kindle format, December 19, 2012 By Joseph C. Dobes (Elkton, Virginia, US) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?) This review is from: Windows 8 All-in-One For Dummies (Kindle Edition) The book is difficult to read in the Kindle format (at least on the Kindle). The figures (which I find necessary to understand the text) are frequently not located anywhere near the text and are difficult to read (with the caption often running on for more than one page). Too much basics at the beginning that I had to bypass. Much appeared to be written for a person who was going to load Windows 8 on an existing computer (with another program installed), rather than buying a new computer with Windows 8 pre=installed.
