At first I used a virtual machine, then a full installation on a older computer with modest specs and finally as a dual boot on my Dell Studio XPS8100 with two 24" monitors. During the time I've been using Win 8 CP I spent much time on the Windows 8 Forums reading and responding to postings that emphasized the good and bad points of the operating system.
The discussion in Misunderstanding Windows 8 exactly matches my feelings and conclusions. If you would like to get to the bottom line evaluation quickly I strongly recommend this book. I especially like the simple 2-step process presented at the end of the book for learning the Win 8 environment. However it had a lot of negative connotations in it about Windows 8 and people need to know more about Windows 8 in a positive light.
